Taking in Life Around Me.....#SundayStills

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This weeks theme is Furred and feathered friends. We have no pets at the moment, so I have a variety of photos from past furry friends and also some fun wildlife photos.

On a trip we took last week to Anderson Island, Wa I encountered my very first owl siting in the wild. Over the last year I've seen friends who have posted about spotting owl in the woods or at our local wildlife refuge and I'm always looking around, but haven't spotted one....until last week. He flew across the road in front of us and at first we thought it was a hawk. Then he from from the tree alongside the car and I realized it was an owl. We drove a little ways down the road until we could turn around. Thankfully he stayed still long enough to get a picture and a video before flying off.

Also on that trip we spotted this cute little chipmunk.
We don't have any bird feeders, other than a hummingbird one and this bird sat still long enough on my walk for me to get a picture.
Our yard is filled with rabbits right now. I was able to sneak a pic of this little guy before he hopped off.
We don't have our kitty anymore...he disappeared, but he sure was funny. He was a "barn" cat of sorts but had a bed on the covered porch and just enjoyed life, though I wish if he was going to hang out while I worked outside, that he would pitch in to help.
Do you see something hiding in the weeds? This was when we were first working on our property. I caught movement in the corner of the house and barely saw this baby! I didn't want to scare him so I just got as close as my zoom would go.
Deer are plentiful in our neighborhood, though not as many as above. We have two or three that hang out and every year have babies following them around.
My daughters dog was hilarious when she was a pup...She had a nose for moles, so the above photos is her with her nose down a mole hole.
I can think of much better things to chew on!
The above and below photos cracked me up...She fell asleep in the shoe.
She also liked to get in the way of any raking attempting to be done.
The leisurely life of a cat.
Dinner is served.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. These are such great shots of pets and wildlife doing what they do best--look cute, entertaining or just wow! Love your shot of the owl, (on my bucket list), and the herd of deer--such a great shot, Kirstin! Your daughter's dog is hilarious indeed--those shots of him burying his face in various places is adorable--then he falls asleep--precious! The heron with the snake is awesome!
