Weekend Coffee Share....Come sit with me.

It's another week of Weekend Coffee Share. I always love everyone's posts. Are you like me and try to visit everyone? It doesn't always happen but I try. I have loved getting to know different bloggers and I figure if they take the time to write a post, I'll find the time to visit, even if it's a week later. I truly enjoy what you all share and I often learn so much.

Check out all the other posts on Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I'm off to go visit some now. #weekendcoffeeshare.

If we were having coffee or tea we'd probably talk about:

The weather: The weather has been amazing. This week it hasn't been too hot or too cold. The next week or so will be low to upper 70's. Those temps are my happy place.

What we're thinking about
: At this very moment I'm thinking about how I really don't want to go to the gym with my hubby this morning...I'd love to just stay home til going to the garage sale, but I'm doing it support him and while I got myself a good workout last week, I'm just not feeling it this morning.

I'm also thinking about my WOTY, which is savor. Something brought this to mind the other day, and I realized I haven't given it much thought. I love the word so I certainly want to lean into it more. I just need to be intentional with it. Life often makes us reflect on things and truly evaluate if we are savoring the life we are living. I'm trying to.

What we're thankful for:As it is Memorial Day weekend, and yes, I'm thankful for a long weekend, which for me ends up being longer because I have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, I never take for granted the sacrifice of so many. I know these days have come at a cost, and for many family's it is not a pleasant time, but a reminder of what they have lost. I'm thankful for those who have given their lives (though I wish they hadn't lost theirs) for the freedoms we have and fight to have today.

Around the house: Today (Friday) we're getting the concrete poured for the rest of our steps. We still have a lot more concrete to pour in the future...we need to do some more steps and then a retaining wall on one side. Maybe someday I'll have landscaping, but one thing at a time. I keep seeing people and all their amazing raised bed gardens and I have to be careful not to get envious.

I need to call about our refrigerator...for some reason, the little alarm that yelled at you if you left the door open, or it didn't shut all the way, quit going off. Not that we need it, but good grief, we've only been using it a year.

What we're reading or wanting to read: I really enjoyed the book Fatal Intent by Tammy Euliano. I just downloaded her next book, Misfire. My non-fiction book I started is called All Buts Stink by Walter Bond. My goal is to read 10 pages a day. Pretty good line up. I did finish the book Four Seasons by Chris Widener. He is a HS classmate and motivational speaker and life coach. I don't know if I mentioned hesitating to read it because it walks through a family's journey through seasons of cancer. BUT I decided to go ahead and read it, to push myself and to support him. It was good.

What we've watched or listened to: Earlier in the week it was sprinkling and so I decided to walk on the treadmill. I thought that I would watch the Netflix show All the Light we Cannot See only to discover it doesn't air until November...well, that was a bummer, so I watched a few episodes on Magnolia about Inn restorations...I also didn't finish the audio book 100 years of Lenni and Margot,  and it got returned on my (I think a day too early), so no I'm on hold for it again so I can finish it. I was like 63% of the way done. I did start Jenna Kutchers' book How are you, Really? Living Your Truth One Answer at a Time. I have followed her on social media for quite awhile so I was interested in the book.

For the love of food: Nothing special...I didn't throw any new recipes my hubby's way this week. I was going to try a lamb stew tonight (Friday), but we are going to go up to dinner at our local golf course. Last Saturday we did try a new little brewery, and shared a few appetizers and a caesar salad. Everything was really good, but a bit more than we would've cared to spend. We also tried a lavendar Komboucha that was really good. We did some wings that were awesome, and cajun tots, which literally were only tater tots sprinkled with cajun seasoning and a spicy dip...could've done without those.

I did make some GF/DF mini cheesecakes with a berry compote for a bridal shower my daughter was a part of last weekend, but no one took a picture for me, including me.

I came across a magazine at work by Paula Deen and so many yummy recipes, I made some copies...the tomato pie caught my eye first. YUM.

A favorite photo(s) I realized I haven't taken many pics this week, but these two were cute/pretty.

She was so cute laying down on the floor "writing her name". She stood up and proudly said "Nonni, me write my name".

I noticed a few of these blooming under my cedar trees. The side along my driveway is a mess, but occasionally things pop up.

Random or not so random things: We are having a garage sale this weekend. Well, mostly my daughter. I'm helping out tomorrow. I always enjoy garage sales because I love decluttering, but I really love visiting with people. That is my favorite thing. It does drive me nuts when something is $1 and someone says "will you take .50?". I rarely ask people to go lower, unless it's a larger item. The last day, no problem because I want to get rid of things. I'm not a good "barterer" when I go to sales, I just pay what someone is asking.

No plans for us this weekend other than that garage sale and I will need to grocery shop. Maybe we'll have kids up on Monday, I'm not sure.

A few weeks ago at my grandsons preschool he was supposed to bring a bike and the kids were all going to ride out on one of the back parking lots. Well, Indy went from a strider bike, to a Stacyc battery operated bike, then to a small sized dirt bike. He's never ridden a pedal bike. I brought it on the Wednesday of the week he was supposed to bring it to school, and after a little bit, he figured out how to pedal (with the training wheels). Today at the garage sale, they took the training wheels off and he didn't even want his dad to help him. I guess it took him about 3 minutes to figure it out and off he went...though he was confused at first because he didn't have a throttle. Haha!! And here I joked that he'd never know how to ride a regular bike. Now we just need to get him a bit bigger bike. The one he was riding is a bit short and the seat doesn't adjust.

  1. I'm so glad you loved Fatal Intent. It's still on my digital bookshelf to be read and now you gave me another reason to get to it. Hope your Memorial Day weekend is a good one.

  2. Hi Kirstin - your steps are coming along well, hope the garage sale went well - and that granddaughter is so cute (even from the back). Good on Indy for figuring out a bicycle so quickly - kids are amazing and adventurous - something we often forget to be!

  5. Hi Kirstin,
I'd love to do a garage sale but A) our home doesn't really work for one - long driveway with very limited parking at the end, then B) my wife hates them so we're clogged with clutter.
    sigh.
Hey - about that frig. Did you try unplugging it let it sit for about 30 seconds then plugging it back in? Sometimes, that will reset its innards. It might save you an expensive service call.

    1. I always do a grage sale at my inlaws because we live on a private road and I feel it might be hard to do, though it may work. It would also have to be on a weekend with no rain because we don't have a garage..lol. I did not try unplugging it, though today hubby had the doors open and I heard the "alarm", so maybe it needs to be open longer.

  6. Mid 70's up to maybe mid 80's are my favorite temperatures too! I didn't know that All the Light We Cannot See was coming to Netflix at all-- that is going to be so hard to wait until November to see. I loved that book.

    1. I just hate being to hot, especially with menopause beginning to hit. I can't wait either. There was another one I read that I believe they turned or are turning into a series, "Rock Paper Scissors". not sure how that one will go.
