Taking in Life Around Me.....#sundaystills...Color Challenge: Purple

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This weeks theme is a color challenge and the color is purple. Purple isn't my favorite color, but it is pretty. Especially in nature. I don't wear it in clothing often, though it is a color in my palette.

Did you know that purple fabric used to be so crazy expensive that only rulers/royalty could afford it. I'm guessing that is why it has been associated with royalty all these years.

I think these are a hellebore, but I'm not entirely sure.
The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival never disappoints. I just wish it was closer to where we live.
Purple Trillium. Such a beautiful flower to see when out on a hike.
I'm not sure what this flower is. I didn't have time to look it up since I wanted to post this before going to work.
Dark purple grapes in Ausserberg, Switzerland.
Foxglove is another wildflower that is fun to spot while hiking.
This pretty white butterfly sat here for awhile at our airbnb on Orcas Island a few years ago.
Our local tulip fields sported some pretty purple tulips.
These bluebells seemed more purple than blue to me.
I also visited our local Lilac Gardens and some of the colors were stunning. This one was gorgeous, from deep to light purple.

Purple chairs on the lawn at the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens.
Lavender at a lavender farm in Hood River Oregon. So pretty.
I love how the center of these lilacs were a deep purple while the edges were white. So stunning.

I spotted this purple flower on the hillside while walking up my hill the other day. I don't know what it is though.

When my grandkiddos and I were on a walk last week, I said I was looking for purple things to take pictures of. Indy helped me spot several flowers in peoples yards.

The public art photos were taken in downtown Vancouver, Wa. I just love murals and took a drive one day to find several of them. It was so fun. I need to go find more and even try to find some in Portland.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. We see a lot of the same wildflowers on our walks, like yours, Kirstin. I have Picture This app on my phone which ID's plants and flowers. The lavender and tulip fields are especially pretty since I don't see that often! Great captures on the purple public art--I think my fave is the image of the purple chairs. Have a great week, and you always have plenty of time to post ;)

  3. Excellent job on the prompt for the week - stunning flowers/nature and creative art all combined in one. That's so fun you took the kiddos to help you find photos, makes for a delightful group effort!
