Taking in Life Around Me.....#sundaystills Theme: Color Challenge (Green)

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This weeks theme is a color challenge, and the color is GREEN. Green is one of my favorite colors. So many shades and variations to it. Though it's a bit funny that, as much as I like the color, there isn't a whole lot of it in my decor at the moment.

When our grandkids were with us a few weeks ago, Indy built this cabin, complete with a green roof.

Last night we went to a Portland Timbers soccer game and this was the TIFO, filled with lots of green. One of their uniform kits is green. A TIFO, for non soccer/sports fans, is choreographed display in which fans in a sports stadium raise a large banner together or simultaneously hold up signs that together form a large image.

I grabbed two of these pretty containers at Safeway a few years ago. They were on clearance and I just couldn't pass them up.
Well bummer, you can't really see it in this pic, but our granite countertops have a lot of green in them.
The tie dye craft we did when the kids were over a few weeks ago...we tie dyed baby wipes and then turned them into butterflies.
My favorites of green are almost always found in nature!!!

The green pool noodles helped the spike ball net float so they could play in the pool.
The green hillsides in Switzerland were stunning.
Murano and Burano had many bright green buildings. The buildings were painted right, so the legends go, so that fishermen returning home could see the islands especially in the fog.
I loved these green umbrellas outside a cafe in Venice.
We got a good laugh on this day in Venice, because as we were walking, I started laughing and said, "well, I made a fashion faux pas today". My hubby and daughter didn't know what I was talking about until I informed them that I looked liked one of the gondola drivers.
I loved this little market in Venice...Lots of pretty green produce.
More green fields in Switzerland. We were so sad this day that it was cloudy and we couldn't see the alps as well.
Grape vines at my aunts vineyard on Kelley's Island, Ohio.

The green trees surrounding Paulina Lake, in Central Oregon!
I loved this green fence and the green on the buildings in Bar Harbor Maine.
At the Magic Wings Observatory there were so many "green" creatures, from frogs to butterflies.

This photo isn't great because I took a screen shot from a video and it doesn't do the color justice, but these guys were such a cool color green...and did you know that poisonous frogs, when in captivity are not poisonous. The poisons they carry are derived from their native diets and when they are in captivity, the diets they are fed cause them to lose most, if not all of their toxicity.

This tree was on one of our brief stops on our vacation and I love the green mixed in with the reds and yellow.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. You have a wonderful and eclectic collection of greens, Kirstin! The nature photos are my faves (of course)! The fern and dripping evergreen are stunning! Seems like you have more green inside your house than you realize--I'm sure those countertops looks greenish over all. I did chuckle at your gondola gear--too cute! Switzerland is very green as to be expected!
