Taking in Life Around Me....#Sundaystills....Theme: Sweet

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This weeks theme is "sweet". This can go in so many directions. Once again I need to look for photos that are "outside" the box of the literal meaning which to me, my mind immediately goes to sweet treats.

I'm babysitting my grandkids for the next week and while they are super sweet, this Nonni is going to be tired.

I mostly went with literal "sweets" because I do have a sweet tooth and I'm trying to get this posted while pausing to
I spied these Jelly Belly's while out with my granddaughter last week.

The anticipation of yummy, sweet, Cinnamon Rolls on Christmas morning is very real amongst our family. I can't even suggest not serving them. I've started making them without dairy, subbing plant based "butter" and oat milk so my grandkids can have them.

Straying from treats for a second, my sweet family. Sometimes with a bit of a kick to them, but they are sweet for my soul.

Back to Jelly Belly's...this Statue of Liberty in Las Vegas is made completely from Jelly Belly's. WOW. I was trying to find out more information about it (how long it took to build, how many Jelly Beans, but I couldn't find anything.
These weren't Jelly Bellies but I don't remember what they were. I think they were either chocolate coated candies, or something else. So cool though...walls and walls of these.

We tried lots of sweets while in the New England states. Hubby got gelato from this store and I grabbed a Lobster Tail from Mikes Pastries down the street (of course I didn't get a picture).
Butternut Crunch donut from a yummy donut shop in Mystic, CT. I got this one and then a sample of a few different donut holes. They were all so good. I think I got blueberry cake, cinnamon sugar, and a couple others.
I spotted this "sweet" mural in Montpelier, VT. The artist said "I love bees and I wanted to show the interconnectedness of the food we eat and the importance of pollination"

The sweetness of gathering with family! Our trip in August to Ohio to visit my aunts and uncles was so special.
This family is one of the sweetest we've met. They live in Switzerland and we have known them for quite a few years. Our daughter went to stay with them for a month in 2019. We flew there and stayed two weeks visiting with them, another gal and traveling to Italy and throughout parts of Switzerland. Such a great time.

Our last night in Europe, we stayed just over the border of Switzerland in France before flying out the next day in Zurich. We got a few goodies from the above French bakery.
In Italy we enjoyed all sorts of sweet treats. This bakery had so many options.
This Plumeria was outside an airbnb we rented in California. I loved the smell. My hubby isn't a fan of strong smelling flowers, and depending on what they are, I'm not either, but this was so nice. I also love the sweetness of honeysuckle.
When we visited NYC in 2017, we stopped at this popular restaurant, Serendipity, just for their frozen hot chocolate. It was really good. We should've shared because the food looked so good we wished we had room to eat more.
Nothing prettier and sweeter than Farmers Market flowers.
On a trip to Hood River, Oregon, we always stop at The Old Trunk antique store. I love to browse the store, and my hubby and daughter love to get homemade ice cream. Their huckleberry is the most popular. They make an amazing root beer float and they make their own sodas.
And my final favorite "sweet" photo is at my daughters wedding. My mom passed away 19 years ago, but we still did a hand photo with my daughters, mine, my grandmas (moms mom) and my mother in law. Such a special thing.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. Aww, you have so many sweet images that bring up not only fun activities but cherished moments as well, Kirstin! Oh my, the jelly bellies look amazing and that statue of Liberty made of them is remarkable! One of these days when we travel Europe, I will have to get in a lot of steps in order to counteract all the bakery stops we will inevitably make. Wonderful post to read, my friend! Hope the weather cooperates for you on your side of the state. I heard another polar vortex is heading our way!

    1. Thanks Terri. I love Jelly bellies. I have tried some weird flavors and think I'll stick to the originals.
