Taking in Life Around Me....#Sundaystills....Theme: Frosty

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure. It's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. This weeks theme is #frosty. 

Fun side story....when I was in college there was a Wendy's fast food restaurant close to the college campus. We would go there after evening church services and we'd always get frosty's and french fries. We loved dipping the fries in the frosty's. We also bought the Jr. Bacon cheeseburgers for .99 and at that time they had a salad bar so we'd sometimes get some ranch and a few cucumbers to put on top of it as well. I don't know the last time I had a frosty.

Frosty can be related to weather or to a mood or attitude or food of course. 

Back to another kind of frosty. The temps here in the southwest region of Washington have gone between warmer, wet days, and colder, dry days, which brought many frosty mornings. Personally, I'll take cold and dry over warmer and wet most days. I love the clear skies that normally accompany it and though there are spots that can be slick, it's beautiful. 

I know that many of these photos are "snow", but they do remind me of frost. I was also trying to find a picture of one of my grandkids giving a "frosty" look but couldn't find the ones I was thinking of. That was inspired by Graham from Grahams Island. I love being inspired by other people. 

The above and below photos were taken along what we call The Bottoms...it's the part of our town that borders the Columbia and Lewis Rivers and also the majority of the farmland. This was on a frosty morning last year. 

During one of our snows last year, the wind was blustery and the snow blew up onto the covered porch. 

During the ice storm we had on December 23rd, I ventured out for a few photos. I peeled the above piece of ice off of a leaf, and then also captured a leaf stuck under the ice on our sidewalk. 

Frost covered moss. Same ice storm from December. 

These photos of clear, sunny skies against a snowy backdrop definitely gave a feel of a frosty winter wonderland. 

Last week we had a few really cold mornings and I loved seeing these patterns on my car. Growing up we used to say that Jack Frost had visited when we saw icy patterns on windows.

Literally watermelon popsicles! 

We ate a lot of gelato in Italy. Below is a beverage I got and I do believe it was frozen.
