Taking in Life Around Me.....#SundayStills...Color Challenge: White and Gray

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This week is our color challenge and the colors are White and Gray. Certainly not colors I photograph things of on a regular basis, but let's see what I can find. Our weather is definitely gray, but I rarely have photos of the gray skies, because I do not like them. Haha. I scrolled through my photos, and grabbed some that caught my eye.

I loved all the white churches we found while on our trip to the NE States in October.

This gull sitting on the rocks in Bar Harbor, Maine.

As often as there were little white churches in the small towns, there were large gray stone churches in the bigger towns and cities.

Behind the coffee shop we visited in Gorham, NH was this neat concrete table and benches.

I'll never get tired of the white peaks of the mountain ranges in the PNW. So pretty. This was on the Puget Sound on our way to Orcas Island. That is Mt. Ranier.

There is an awesome sculpture park in Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor to be exact. The sculptures change regularly...I thought these sheep were so cute.

The gorgeous Swiss Alps from Murren, Switzerland..this area was featured in a James Bond film and there's an entire exhibit which we visited while there. The only way up is via a series of trains and cable cars. I wish we had taken time to stop at each stop along the way and walk around the little villages. I'd love to know what it's like living in these hillside towns. I think I need to go back.

This large sculpture in Venice is called "building bridges". They symbolize the need to build bridges and overcome differences.

Above and below, more amazing buildings in Venice.

White waves on the Oregon Coast. I'm so thankful to live where we do.

I rarely find whole sand dollars on the beach. During our trip in 2019 I found 5. I was so excited. They are always a gray color.

Clouds outside the plane on our trip to NYC in 2017.

Ice on a fence in Sunriver, Oregon during one of our winter time trips.

  1. Hi Kirstin! As usual, you share a wonderful collection of places and objects to highlight the colors for the month! I love that very last image of icy fence --pretty sure I have a couple of those myself. The pic of the Alps and of Mt Rainier are breath-taking! You really live in areas where you can capture sweeping vistas, mountains and waterscapes. I love those old churches both white clapboard and the gothic stone. Well done this week!

  2. Great photos from your archives. Like you I don't take photos of grey and white but will pull some. That gull is spot on but I'm also a fan of those sheep! How cute. Bernie

  3. Hi Kirstin! I agree with Terri's comments, you chose a beautiful selection of photos for the challenge. Nice work! I've never traveled much, so I adore seeing photos others have taken. I'm in awe at the beauty you captured. (PS...I wasn't able to comment with my Gravitar, not sure why, but this is Shelley from QuaintRevival.com incase you're wondering who the anonymous is.)
