#WQW....Theme: Veterans Day

It's another week of  Writer's Quotes Wednesday, hosted by Marsha from Always Write. If you're interested in joining, you can find more about #WQW here.

This weeks theme is Veterans Day. Veterans Day celebrates the service of all US Military Veterans. Did you know that out of 50 states, only 5 states require private employers to provide time off for Veterans on Veterans Day? They get to choose whether it will be paid or unpaid. I did not know this.

While no one in my immediate family has served in the military, I do have several family members who have from cousins, aunts, uncles, to my dad and grandpas. I appreciate so much the courage, dedication and sacrifice of our military men and women and also their families.

I am almost always working on Veterans Day so I've never been able to do any volunteering or go to an event to honor veterans, but I do think about them and I should be intentional this Friday to acknowledge any who walk through our doors. I know several businesses in town are offering free lunches or something to any veteran who comes in.

My dad.

My grandpa (moms dad).  I couldn't find one of my other grandpa.

  1. This is a great post, Kirstin. I love the picture of your daughter. It is where we all sit metaphorically at least - in a position honoring the service person. Thanks for sharing the handsome pictures of your father and grandfather. Soldiers are so young, aren't they?

    1. Thanks Marsha!! Yes, I agree with your thought on where we all sit or should sit...honoring them. Yes, so young.
