Taking in Life Around Me....#sundaystills...Theme: Color Challenge: Leather

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This weeks theme is a monthly color challenge and the "color" is leather. Now, leather can come in any color, but when we initially think of that word, we think of shades of brown. I think leather hats, saddles and bridles, brown leather couches, and purses, even shoes.

When I was with Terri and Marsha back in September I was intentional during our trip to Fort Vancouver to look for pictures that depicted upcoming challenges. I'm not always good at doing this, but with those two ladies I was on my game. Since that time, I've tried to always have an eye open. The pictures I'm sharing are all from that. I would have loved to grab some more, but I had a busy day and just didn't have time to look through my photos.

This brown wood caught my eye as we walked through the Fort.

I loved these leather moccasins..I remember a time, in HS that I had a pair of moccasins and LOVED them. I've been considering buying another pair, I just have to find some that catch my eye.

There were several of these leather buckets hanging on the walls. I forgot to ask what they were for. I think possibly they held grain for the horses..not sure.

These bundles were how they would transfer the pelts.

Pelts. My dad used to be a taxidermist and I remember we always got the job of scraping the fat off the hides before he tanned them.
