Weekend Coffee Share...Come Sit With Me
It's another week of Weekend Coffee Share. I always love everyone's posts. Are you like me and try to visit everyone? It doesn't always happen but I try. I have loved getting to know different bloggers and I figure if they take the time to write a post, I'll find the time to visit, even if it's a week later.
If we were having coffee we'd probably talk about.....
I won't be joining in on the 14th coffee share since we'll be somewhere in the NE states, probably traveling through Vermont. But I'll be back the next week.
The weather: Our weather has had some pretty hot days this last week...but then cools down significantly in the evening. It's been great. I've been trying to track the weather for our trip. Mostly so I know how to pack accordingly.
What we're thinking about: Our trip and finalizing details. I have bills paid that will be due while we're gone, house is picked up and laundry done. I've given instructions for everyone who will be home to please keep the house clean...lol. I know they will.
I'm trying to decide what to pack. Clothing wise, but also other things. Making a list so I don't forget. I'll bring my tablet to read e-books, I have a few audio books for us to listen to in the car or on the plane, and I'll probably bring one physical book to read, since I have two I want to start.

What we're thankful for: The opportunities to travel. I'm so thankful my hubby (and myself) have always managed our finances well. Not perfect on some things, ie..retirement, investments, yikes, but in other areas it has allowed us to be where we are today. For that I'm thankful. Now to get those other two things built up..lol.
I'm thankful for things that come across my path that remind me to be open to change, to keep always learning and growing. Whether it's a song, a quote, a podcast, a book or someone's blog post.
What we're reading or wanting to read: I downloaded a few new kindle books...I need more kindle books like I need a hole in the head (why do we say that phrase anyways), but at the beginning of each month, prime subscribers get one free book (this month it was two). I chose The Quarry Girls: A thriller and The Break: A novel. We'll see how those are. I really need to go through my kindle list and delete some. Most of them were free so I don't feel too bad about deleting them. We should be picking our next book club book in the next week. A customer at work today was sending a book to a friend, called, The Push. I read what it was about and it sounds a little intense. She said it was a great book, but she said it "gave her nightmares"....not sure she meant literally or what...lol. I haven't decided which of the non fiction books to bring with me on our trip. Probably the 75 Hard.
Around the house: Not much, mostly just cleaning up and getting ready for vacation. I still don't think we have a date for the rest of our concrete to be poured. I'm kind of wishing our weather would get a little colder because I really want to fire up the gas fireplace...lol.
What we've watched or listened to: Gosh, it's been awhile since I've watched anything on TV, not even a soccer game. I have been listening to a lot though, podcasts, Ted Talks, I listened to a really good 8 minute video today on Facebook called Is History Constantly Repeating Itself because We just Can't learn The Lessons? I need to listen to it again because I was at work listening while I put mail away before we opened. But it was really interesting. The Ted Talk I listened to was called The Trick to Regaining your childlike Wonder. That too, was really good.
From the kitchen or restaurant: Probably literally nothing worth writing about. I've kept it minimal this week since we're leaving and I've just been trying to get things done. Burgers, taco salad, leftovers, taco soup over baked potatoes. But I am looking forward to trying out some great places on our vacation. Oh I did make some BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and served them on grilled sourdough buns with coleslaw...so good!
Favorite quote of the week: This weeks theme for #WQW was fitness update #3. Find my post here.
Favorite photo from the week:
It's pumpkin patch time and I quickly took these photos when I worked there on Sunday. I need to take some more when we're back from our vacation. There are so many neat varieties of pumpkins, squashes and gourds.
Random and not so random things: Last Wednesday I took the kids to a local Childrens Discover museum in the town next to theirs. It was free, and boy was it neat. They loved it. Something for most ages from baby through I'd say elementary school. We will definitely be going back.
They have an entire nature section with so many cool things but it was closed off that day. I'm not sure Indy is interested in those yet. We'll see.
This was his favorite section. These "tracks" as he called them had magnets on one side. He created several tracks to roll small balls down. I had to help a bit with some positioning but he mostly came up with the ideas himself. He could've spent hours here.
This one wandered into the boat and was trying to row. But her favorite part was the supermarket area where she filled a cart with food. Lol. It also had a cash register, scale, bags to put groceries in. Pretty cool. I need to take more pictures next time we go.
I just started taking a new supplement for iron. My naturapath, after viewing my last set of bloodwork said I have iron deficiency anemia. My iron has always been low, but I think it's lower than she wants to see so we are trying a few things. One showed up yesterday so I've started that. The other should show up while we're gone so I'll start that once we get back.
Then we'll redo bloodwork after a month and see if it has gotten better.
That's definitely an area I need to be intentional about...the things I eat. We eat healthy but sometimes I just skip meals or snacks because I'm "busy" doing other things.
Well, I should go finish packing and last minute cleaning. See you all in a few weeks.

I really like that quote about life. Vermont must be lovely at this time of the year, with all those classic autumn colours!! I hope to get somewhere with real autumn colours in October or November for some good walks and photography, but it won't happen this year since at the moment I can barely get to the kitchen to make coffee!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend and enjoy your trip!
I'm so excited. It sounds like they are changing right on time. I'm so sorry you are struggling...May you feel up to it next year!
DeleteKirstin, Thank you for your weekend coffee share. The pumpkin patch and Children's Discovery museum look great. Have a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks Natalie. Our trip was great...just got back and trying to figure out how to share and post...lol. SO much in 10 days. I know I'll do individual blog posts.
DeleteI love the quote and the photos. It's a great reminder that we have the power to change.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting.
DeleteHave a fantastic time away Kirstin and I'm sure we'll get to see some photos when you're ready to share them. Love those grandies of yours - they're both incredibly cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you. We are back now and had a great time.
DeleteHi Kirstin. We live about an hour from San Francisco and there, at least used to be, a place called the exploratorium - it was an amazing place where some pretty amazing science was on display for kids and adults. These kind of places are like mental gold. Our kids loved it. I loved it. So many things to interact with that brought science right into the palms of your hands. Very cool. Your description brought back some great memories.
ReplyDeleteThis place was so awesome. I'm definitely going to take them back.
