Taking in Life Around Me......#sundaystills Theme: All about numbers

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureI've also been loving visiting the blogs of the other participants and being inspired by their interpretations of the theme. Sometimes I'm a week late commenting but I do try to visit everyone. After all, if you take the time to produce something, you sure hope people visit.

This weeks theme is "all about numbers"......hmmm...I'm not sure where to go with this one. As I was out and about the last few weeks, I kept my eyes open, but nothing was jumping out at me. I suppose I could post photos of ridiculous gas prices. Or I could go with a "number of objects"....aaahhh I just don't know.

Many people say they have a "number". One that just seems to follow them everywhere, that means something to them...I've never had such a thing happen, or maybe I just don't pay enough attention. I don't think I even pay attention to the significance of certain numbers or sets of numbers.

However I did just think about my daughter's soccer jerseys. Oftentimes sports jersey numbers hold a meaning to the players. Sometimes they don't get to pick, but if they do, there's a reason. My oldest daughter had three numbers during her soccer playing years. 5 (when she played rec soccer), 7 (when she played club), 11 (when she hit HS). When my youngest started playing and could choose her number she chose 5 because it was the number her big sister had. She wore that number all through her playing rec, club and HS (except one year in HS when one of the upper classmen chose it..which irritated Kristianna because #1 this girl knew why she had always had that number and #2 the uniform was too small on her but she wanted it anyways (for no real reason)...the next year my daughter got it back).

They got to play one year of HS soccer together. My youngest was a wing and forward and my oldest was a defender/midfielder. It was so fun watching them.

The one year she didn't get to wear 5, but 7 was another of her sisters numbers.

The other number that came to mind was our house number. Funny thing is the lady who I normally do my Pampered Chef parties through built a house as well, and her house number is 143. We always joke that we should be sisters because we have so many similarities and interests, and then we cracked up when our house numbers were the same...of course her house was done way before mine was. But while it took us so long to build, it taught us so many things...it was a labor of love. A place we hoped we would fill with people. A property to gather and play. I've always wanted people to feel like they were at home, part of the family.

Well that's it for me this week.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. I love what you did with the numbers of your daughters' sports jerseys, Kirstin! That is funny about your sharing the same house number with a friend. I couldn't find the image, but 12 years ago, my hubby stood in front of the The Venetian in Vegas. When we looked at the photo, we saw that the Venetian had the same street address as our former home in Sacramento (3355). My daughter had #22 on all her sports jerseys throughout years of club (and HS) soccer, softball and volleyball. They do mean something to the players. Cool post!

  2. The prompt was a fun one Kirstin and I like how you interpreted it! I would say my number is 12 as my birthday is 12/12 and i see it everywhere now!
