Weekend Coffee Share......Come Sit with Me

It's another week of Weekend Coffee Share. I always love everyone's posts. Are you like me and try to visit everyone? It doesn't always happen but I try. I have loved getting to know different bloggers and I figure if they take the time to write a post, I'll find the time to visit, even if it's a week later.

If we were having coffee we'd probably talk about:

The weather: Back to rain. it looks like we might get a few breaks and temps in the low 60's next week but other than that, the typical rain.

What we're thinking about, learning or understanding: I've been thinking about how I can get back into exercising again after being sick, but also needing to modify some things because I injured my arm/elbow. I haven't decided if they are connected or if separate. I felt like I pulled a muscle in my forearm several weeks ago. Then I remember smacking my elbow hard on something...it bruised, and was a bit swollen but the bruise and swelling went down, however it is still painful. Not all the time though, so I'm just not sure. I know these areas tend to take awhile to heal and with my job involving lifting and using my arms it could take even longer. I will go to the doctor if it's not better in a week or so.

I didn't complete the wellness challenge...at least not in it's entirety..mostly because of being sick but because I just slacked off in some areas. I think I will try it again, but maybe modify it a bit.

What we're thankful for: When you're under the weather, you are definitely thankful for health. I'm ready to be back to 100%....hopefully this week.

What we're reading or wanting to read: Just finished our last book club book. I actually didn't finish it but we met last night and it's always a great time discussing our latest "read" and visiting. I did add another book to my "want to read" list on Amazon. I heard about it on IG. It's called American Daughter by Stephanie Thornton Plymale. I also pre-ordered two books. A Lovely Life: Savoring Simple Joys in Every Season by Melissa Michaels and Feed These People: Slam Dunk Recipes for the Mouths in Your House by Jen Hatmaker.

We'll be picking our next book club book soon.

Around the house: We got our counter stools. Love them. Hubby was kind of wishing he got red, but I feel like that would then limit changing colors in decor. I'd rather add pops of color elsewhere. We haven't picked up tables yet.

Yesterday we had our septic tanks pumped (I know, glamorous, but it's got to be done or you end up regretting it). Last night right when I was going to bed I heard an alarm going off...it was our septic alarm. It will go off when something is too low or too high. The septic guys had mentioned that they needed to come back out and service something inside the tank that wasn't working right so that was probably what set the alarm off. So we needed to go out, hit the alarm button and disconnect it. I would not want that job. I hope it pays well. Lol. With that said, they broke my heart a few weeks ago when they came out and said my Costco TP is one of the worst to use with septic systems. We are now trying Angel Soft. Just keeping it real here.

Still not nice enough weather for concrete, though there looks like some dry days next week. It will probably depend on their schedule. I just want to get it done. Once that is done I feel like we can breath and just take our time finishing and purchasing what's left. We've tapped out the funds so it will be a matter of saving up or finding good deals on remaining things.

I also seriously need to get out and do some weeding. I only have a few spots that I've put flowers in and those were kind of just thrown in there, so maybe later this spring I'll make some sort of organized plan.

What we've listened to or watched: As I try to finish this post, I'm watching the Portland Timbers play against Colorado. I didn't listen to any new podcasts last week...partly because I still wasn't feeling up to parr so felt like I was just getting through the week.

From the kitchen: I tried a new recipe that was quick and really good though heavy on the basil. A friend introduced me to a company called Epicure. They were Canadian born but have since made their way into the US. I love their seasonings, etc. Their goal is to make meal prep quick and healthy. The dish was chicken with creamy pesto/parmesan sauce. Since I didn't feel great last week, I kept things pretty simple.

I did make homemade granola, which I haven't made for awhile. It's so good. Find the recipe here. You can add anything you like, but I like keeping it simple.

Favorite quote from the week: I shared about kindness for #WQW last week, even though Marsha is taking a few weeks off. You can find my post here

Favorite photo of the week:

Oh, my grandson!  Wednesday when I babysat he said "Nonni, can you draw me Indominous Rex? I tried to tell him I didn't think I could, but he said "I know you can, just look at your computer". So, I did...and I tried. Thankfully he's easy to please, and he thought I did a good job. I'll need to practice. Then he wanted a Power Ranger, but I just couldn't get that one figured out.

Someone fell asleep in her chair.

See that canvas photo on the wall? My daughter took that. This is at the coffee shop where she works. She and her co-workers arranged the coffee cups, she shot the photo and created the canvas. I love it.

Random thoughts: My youngest and now my hubby are under the weather while I'm on the upswing, though my voice is very hoarse, I'm sure from coughing so much. My youngest is going to Florida on Monday so she needs to feel better quick. I'm sleeping better but still have a slight lingering cough, which is annoying. I took one day off last week which was nice to stay home though I didn't sleep much. I just laid low.

This morning (Saturday) I met my oldest daughter at a Farmers market and then stopped at her house for a few minutes. It was a nice little market...I'm sure it'll get a little bigger once the season continues. A few weeks ago hubby and I went to another one. I love farmers markets. Then it was home to make my grocery list, go to the bank and then grocery shop.

I think that's all for this weekend. Have a great week friends.

  1. Oh, the weather and how it prevents us to moving on with jobs we need to do! Hope you can continue soon...
Very nice to see you now using your new lovely kitchen! We're planning to get a new floor in our kitchen soon... I can't wait! It's a horrible room right now and a new tiled floor will make such a difference.

  2. Hi Kirstin - sorry to hear that the family has been under the weather - but also good to see that your kitchen is coming along nicely and everything is looking finished and functional. My husband refuses to take me to new display homes because he's worried I'll see some new decor arrangement that I want to implement and we'll be all upended and unsettled. I haven't put up a fight because the thought of any kind of renovation does my head in these days - so I admire all you've accomplished.

    1. Haha...we used to go to the Street of Dreams and Parade of Homes yearly. It wasn't hard for me because these homes are sooooo out of our realm of reality that I didn't get envious. We are tapped out of money now, so it'll be saving to get things to decorate.

  3. Thanks for the reminder- I just jumped over to see when the last time we had our septic tank cleaned out! That is one that I am so bad at remembering to keep up on but it is so important! The new kitchen stools look great! Your daughter's photo turned out great and how adorable is your little grandbaby fast asleep in her chair?!
