Tuesday 4......Hollywood and movies

It's time again for Tuesday 4 hosted by Anne from Cottage by the sea. Published each week in memory of Toni Taddeo, it's original author.

According to the late Jordan Maxwell,  Hollywood is named for the fact that the holly was used for magic wants by the Druids. This is where term "Hollywood Magic" comes from. People are under its 'spell'.    Another story says that  H.J. Whitley the father of Hollywood saw a Chinese man hauling wood on the hills overlooking the future site  and asked him what he was doing.  "I holly wood" he said meaning hauling wood.   It occurred to Whitley that holly wood was a great name for his new town.

My family LOVES movies and I swear we have enough movies that we've joked we could just rent them out, and we've gotten rid of a lot of them, we still have 6 drawers full.

1  During WW2 Marilyn Monroe was an aircraft factory inspector.  She was no dumb blonde but had an above average IQ.  Do you know some Hollywood or record industry trivia? Not without looking anything up, however, those who are familiar with Father Guido Sarducci, he was often seen on Saturday Night Live. His real name was Don Novello, and he was friends with my moms family (who is Italian-American)

Don Novello (Father Guido Sarducci) is on the far left.

2. Would you share with us the funniest movie you have ever seen?   I'll preface this by saying I'm not a HUGE movie watcher, I'd much rather play games. So with that being said I do like funny movies but not if they're crass.  I'm drawing blanks and I'm sure as I read everyone else's answers it will bring some to mind. I'll share ones that made me laugh and lightened the moods.

1. Cool Runnings

2. Sister Act

3. Parent Trap

4. Imagine That

How about the most dramatic?

1. Dear Evan Hansen

2. John Q

3. We Are Marshall

4. The Pursuit of Happyness

3.  Has a movie ever really moved you or changed the way you see things? The one recent movie I watched Dear Evan Hansen opened my eyes to the issues of suicide. I try to find something important in every movie I watch, something to take away.

4. Do you have movie nights at your house with special snacks, treats  etc.?  We don't have regular movie nights now. When our girls were little we would sit down most nights and watch Little House on the Prairie. We'd usually eat popcorn or ice cream. Sometimes if we watch movies now it might be with popcorn or ice cream. If not movies, was there something else around which you created a  special family night? I much prefer games nights because we can talk and interact. My family DOES NOT talk during movies and sometimes I get "the look" if I ask too many questions or talk. Either way usually popcorn or ice cream are involved.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  2. That is a very interesting fact about Don Novello. Those are good movie choices you made. I agree with your answer for #3. You're right, game nights are nice because of the interactions.
