Taking in Life around Me......#Sundaystills....theme: Eerie

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terrie from Second Wind LeisureI've also been loving visiting the blogs of the other participants and being inspired by their interpretations of the theme.

I wasn't sure what I would contribute since I didn't really think I had anything and things have been so busy I just didn't have time. But I did go through and find a few that I decided to kind of "super edit" though they didn't quite give me the look I was going for.

I remember years ago driving to pick up my hubby from the airport and the sky looked so weird I said "if I lived in the midwest, I'd think we were going to have a tornado." I can't find the picture now.

I don't necessarily feel like these are "eerie" but at the time could give off a slightly eerie vibe.

Last year I visited my aunt on Kelley's Island, this was the old stone crusher ruins. It was very cool, but kind of eerie at the same time. Especially the area to the left. Which I thought I took a photo of but apparently not.

This was the inside of the part that looks like it has a door and two windows. It wasn't creepy in daylight, but I bet it feels this way at dusk or early morning.

Sometimes when our hill is really foggy it can look eerie, but beautiful at the same time.
Growing up and visiting Kelley's Island, we always thought this big house was haunted. While probably not true, there are rumors that there are a few businesses that claim to be haunted, with strange things happening regularly. One is a local winery that is built next to a burial ground.
Well, this place may not be haunted but those three in the window sure make it feel that way.
I added some drama to this photo from a stormy day in Bern, Switzerland.
My MIL used to tell my girls stories surrounding the above statue called the Kindlifresser. It dates back to the 16th century and is one of the oldest statue. There are a few theories behind it, you can read those here, but the story my mother in law heard was that he would eat naughty children who didn't behave.
On our way home from Sunriver at the beginning of October we suddenly hit a wall of smoke and the smell permeated the car. We had no idea where it came from or if we were driving into something. Turns out they were doing controlled burns.
My first comment when I saw this statue while visiting Orcas Island was "well, that's creepy". It was part of a display of the Sculpture Gardens.

This last photo is of me (in the white coat), in Ohio when I was little. However it is a mystery to everyone in my family who the girl next to me is, and then another family member pointed out the man in the background. We joke about it being a ghost or who knows who, but we still haven't figured it out, and I'm not sure we ever will!

Well, that's all I've got. Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  2. As always, your photos are on-point with the theme and such great interpretations, Kirstin! That first was heads toward creepy because I see a big ol' face in the bricks! There is always something eerie about forests, fogs and architecture. I love your edited shot of stormy Bern, too. But the black and white image of you and the unknown girl and man is EERIE!! Nicely done! Have a non-eerie week!
