#WQWWC.....May 26th Theme: Hope

I decided to join in with Writer's Quotes Wednesday, hosted by Marsha from Always Write. If you're interested in joining, you can find more about #WQWWC here. 

This weeks theme is "Hope". Just like healing, this can take so many roads. The thought just came to me that at the end of our other previous topics; health, faith, nutrition, balance, beauty, healing, comes hope. Because so often we go through rough times, struggles, long roads to get somewhere, whatever it is and we hold on to hope that at the end, it will be well.

I hear so often lately people say "I hope this is almost done", "I hope we are nearing the end". No matter where we stand on certain issues, I think we can all say we're weary. This last year has taken a toll on everyone. We need some hope. We're  hoping for unity, we're hoping for equality, we're hoping for peace, for rest, for healing, we're hoping, hoping, hoping, for so much! I think as long as we're still hoping, we are in a good place. 

Hope can be profound, and hope can by whimsical or silly. Today I had a dentist appointment. I "hoped" it wouldn't last as long as they said (sadly, it did). I hope that when I send in my crown that is probably 20 years old that apparently had metal on it (say what), that I get some money back, because apparently that's a thing. 

Whatever you're hoping for I pray you keep your hope alive. If you've become a little hard, bitter and feel like you've lost hope, hang in there, don't let it slip through your fingers.

These were just a few I came across, not to mention the many Bible verses that reference hope, and our hope in God. 

What are some things I'm hoping for:

1. That I can find a good hike for us to do on Monday.
2. That we would be able to complete our home by Christmas. 
3. That our daughter and son in law would find a house.
4. That our youngest daughter, when the time is right, would find her future spouse.
5. That my dad would try and use his prosthetic leg.
6. I hope that we are able to find used tires for one of our older cars. 
7. I hope that our health thrives, that we can live long and active lives. 
8. That our jobs will remain secure. 
9. That I can always maintain the optimism I have for life and for the future. 
10. That relationships that have been strained could be restored. 
11. That I would be able to accomplish some goals and be intentional and diligent in them. 


This list could go on couldn't it. We'll just leave it at that.

  1. Kirstin, as usually, you have taken the subject and produced a profound post. I love your Barbara Kingsolver quote. We do run out of hope sometimes but after a night's rest it is renewed. I tend to use the word hope as a synonym for wish. I hope we have chocolate pie tonight - I wish we could have chocolate pie tonight. I think this quote nailed what it should be. Hope is willing to leave unanswered questions unanswered and unknown futures unknown." ~Henry Nouwen Willing to not give up in spite of possible bleak circumstances. I'm grateful that my circumstances have never been that bleak. :)

  2. This is a much needed balm, Kristin - because you have hit the nail on the head. I have been feeling uneasy this past weekend but you have clarified it for me - many people around me are feeling weary. It has been a difficult year and a half for all of us around the world, news hopeful and sad coming in never ending waves. So, Hope is so critical.

    And more inspiring than your series of poignant quotes is your list: when I read your list, it is brimming with so much anticipation & positivity, I feel recharged and want to look forward too!

Even if I ever only write anything for myself, I end up encouraged when I go back and read...I've enjoyed all these blog linky's and challenges and getting to know people from all over and the life they've been living especially this last year.
