Weekend Coffee Share

If we were having coffee, I'd ask how your week went, get caught up with you (which I'll be doing over the course of the weekend), and then share with you about our trip to Texas. So grab a cup of whatever you enjoy and read on.

Last week, on Wednesday we traveled to Texas to visit our oldest daughter, son in law and grand babies, 2 1/2 year old Indiana and his new baby sister, Pepper. We had planned this trip months ago and then a few weeks ago we discovered they were moving back towards the end of April. We already had tickets so just decided to go anyways. To say we're excited to have them back home is an understatement. CANNOT wait!

There were 6 of us traveling together for 7 days.

We rented an awesome airbnb about 3 minutes from our daughters apartment in Fort Worth. It sat on hole 6 of the Fossil Creek Golf Course with a walking path nearby. We spent every afternoon/evening sitting on the covered patio with the gas fire pit going, visiting, watching TV, reading, listening to the birds, playing dinosaur (Indianas newest favorite thing, but still second in line to motorcycles). The night we arrived we had a pretty good thunder and lightning storm. There was a tornado warning and about 30 minutes away they experienced baseball size hail. Our daughter was texting us updates, so hubby and I decided we should pull the rental van into the garage. We decided if, in fact, there was a tornado, the best place to be was the downstairs tiny bathroom...lol. Glad that wasn't necessary. The rest of the trip was beautiful weather.

My grandson and I went on many "adventures". He's 2 1/2 and has a great imagination. So lots of walks were taken around the neighborhood, with him either walking or riding his balance bike, pausing to step on acorns or anything else that made noise, check out bugs, or he'd just want to go fast so I would have to jog. Our granddaughter is only 6 weeks old so she mostly wanted her mama..though I did get a few snuggles in. There was a pool table and chess board and Indy regularly wanted to go "play pool" or "play chess", which consisted of him rolling the balls into the pockets or neighing like a horse while he moved the pawns around the board.

The first afternoon we arrived, we checked into our Airbnb and then met them at a park where we played for awhile before it started to look stormy and began to rain. Then we headed back to the house, ordered pizza in and enjoyed the rest of the evening. We did do some fun things out of the house.

Gotta have a snack after riding your motorcycle and getting dirty.

2 1/2 and he LOVES riding his Staycyc motorcycle. He got it last Fall and the kid cruises on it. He can stand up and is working on his wheelies...lol.

On Thursday we went to a great Trampoline place called Airborne Trampoline. My grandson LOVED it. We were almost the only people there and that was really nice and fun. The adults had fun too.

Friday we went to the Fort Worth Stockyards. My father in law wanted to see the cattle drive and walk around. This time we were actually near enough to the announcer that I could hear what he was saying about the history and it was fascinating.
This was taken in November, but these horses are so pretty and I didn't get a pic this last trip.
Doesn't this guy look like Sam Elliot?

The Fort Worth Herd consists of 17 Texas Longhorns, each steer representing one decade from Fort Worths past.

On Saturday we went to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. It is absolutely stunning. We didn't even see all of it. With two little ones, you kind of work on their schedule. But what we did see, I loved. I decided that when we came home I was going to look up some botanic gardens close to home. I discovered the Oregon Garden. That one is a bit of a drive, but I did find one closer, The Leach Botanical Garden and the Wildlife Botanical Gardens. I'll have to check them out soon.
They had several topiaries on display. They were so pretty.

This display was pretty awesome. it was created by artist Patrick Dougherty during the month of February...he wove, twisted and shaped the sculpture. It will remain as long as it can survive. It is said that all of his sculptures eventually return to the nature from which they came, usually lasting a year or two.

Sunday we mostly stayed around the house, which was nice. I saw my first Cardinal in I don't know how many years. We don't have them in the Pacific Northwest and I was so excited. I saw it twice, but never could get my camera or video fast enough.
Well, she enjoyed being held this way the best...at least when I held her..lol.

Monday, my hubby and MIL stayed home, my oldest daughter and her hubby had to be somewhere for awhile, and my FIL, youngest daughter and her two friends who were with us drove to Waco to go to Magnolia Market. I was there for the first time last November and loved it, but they were doing a lot of remodeling. When we went this time, it was all done so we got to enjoy the full thing. We hit Magnolia Press for coffee and then drove over to Magnolia, Little Shop on Bosque, which is where Joanna had her first shop. It's a shop with clearance items.
This was not here when we came last November. It's a cute little garden shop and raised beds.

Part of our group. My youngest daughter is on the far right, my FIL on far left, and two of my girl's friends in the middle.

Tuesday we were at the house for awhile, said goodbye to the kids and headed to the airport. Back home and jumping right back in to work and life. I will fly back to Texas on the 20th of April and fly back with my daughter littles on the 21st.

I love visiting new places, trying new coffee shops, etc. One that my girls love is Summer Moon coffee, we also had Jets Pizza which is really good. We had a meat one and their buffalo chicken was great. Hubby grabbed some BBQ from somewhere and that was good. Oh, and you can't forget Andy's Frozen Custard.
