Taking in Life Around Me.....#SundayStills...Volunteering
This weeks theme for #SundayStills is "Volunteering". I'm so glad I found this challenge by Terrie from Second Wind Leisure. This week is being hosted by Marsha from Marsha Ingrae Always Writes. I've also been loving visiting the blogs of the other participants and being inspired by their interpretations of the theme. I can't wait to see what they share this week.
I don't have too much in the way of photos for volunteering, I haven't had too many opportunities recently. Our area hasn't had "natural disasters" that warranted needs for volunteers, we're not a part of a church which would offer many opportunities. Life takes over and I don't often venture outside of our own town. This theme though has prompted me to think a little more of how I can do things, even small things, to help others. It also makes me think about how, daily, we often volunteer our ear to listen to someone, or to hear an unspoken need, we volunteer our hearts to loving others, often those who are unlovely, we volunteer our time maybe to help a family member with a task. What other ways can we volunteer? I can definitely see me volunteering at a library etc..when I retire.

One event we have volunteered at twice is called "Fire in the Park". My husbands work took part in it and it was a fun event raising awareness for fire safety. Again, I don't have many photos because I was helping and didn't take many. But here they are.
Also back in 1996 our town experienced a massive 100 year flood. We had to leave our home as the water was within a foot of going in our front door. We lived on our church property and during that time our church gathered together and made sack lunches for people around the city who were helping residents. I wish I had photos of that. The president even paid a visit to our town.
Kirstin
Kirsten, what a lovely event. It looks like fun. Your action pictures are fabulous! Thanks for joining in Sunday Stills during Terri's absence. I've appreciated it so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and for hosting the last two weeks.
DeleteHi, Kirstin - 'Fire in the Park' looks like a very fun event. It is wonderful to see people socializing together and having fun, without the restraints of COVID. I greatly look forward to that light at the end of this long, dark tunnel. Thank you for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteYes....I look forward to gathering like this again. I really miss seeing peoples smiles
DeleteI loved seeing those photos. We don't really need to look far when we consider what we probably do each day. For example, today our neighbours are going to be home late so we got a text to see if we could bring in the Home Cooking Supplies box left on their doorstep. We have and its in our fridge till they are safely home. Loved those images !
ReplyDeleteExactly. I think I experience it daily at work....taking packages out to someones car for them just to help them out, etc. There are so many small ways we volunteer our time because we can always find ways to give of ourselves.
