Weekend Coffee Share

How has everyone's week gone? Nothing spectacular or news worthy here. Sometimes I feel like I literally do the same thing everyday on repeat. Get myself ready for work, go to work....with a few variants thrown in depending on the day and my schedule.

I'm trying to get more steps in. Our PNW weather is a bit scattered and I tried to take advantage of a few nice days to get out and walk more before and after work, and last weekend, hubby and I and our youngest daughter and her friend went to the Vancouver (washington) waterfront, and walked and then went to dinner at one of the bistros. It was beautiful and it was nice to see people out and about. With the weather getting nicer, I want get out and do more walking. I've never been a watch wearer, but thinking I'd like to get a simple fitness tracker to monitor my steps, miles, etc. I've seen many people doing virtual runs/walks or setting goals for how many miles they'd like to walk in a set amount of time. I think I'd enjoy that.

Next week we are traveling to Texas to see our oldest daughter and hubby and two grand-babies...meeting our granddaughter for the first time. She was born in February. I cannot wait for that.

If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I joined a #10min10days writing challenge put on by The Accidental Inspirationalist. I found Tammy here on Weekend Coffee Share. It's been fun. I'm mostly doing it for me, not so much to share, but maybe as I grow more confident I'll branch out a bit more with sharing and the accountability part of the challenge. I thought "10 minutes is doable, let's start there".

If we were having coffee, I'd ask how you've been. I'd ask if you've read anything new, listened to anything new, found a new show you love? The other day I was sitting and realized I haven't caught up on the show "When Calls the Heart". I love that show. I also really enjoy watching cooking and DIY shows. My daughter and her friend have been watching the show Perfect Strangers, so if I'm working at the computer when they're watching, I find myself chuckling, because it's funny and it was a show I used to watch when I was younger, and now these girls are watching a lot of those "throwback" shows. Funny how things come back around. I've been lagging in the reading category...uggh. I was doing really good but just haven't made the time lately. I've been tired lately, and if I'm tired, I just don't want to read. My hope is to get back on track.

My hope for the weekend is to get all my online work done for the next week and a half so I don't have to do it when I'm on our trip to Texas. I'll do little things, but not much...I hope. We also have plans to go play cards with my in-laws on Sunday. I am very thankful for my in-laws. Right now, it's Saturday and I'm sitting at my desk trying to do online work and finish this post. Looking out the window at my front yard the sky doesn't quite know what it wants to do. part of it is light clouds, part blue sky, and in another direction dark  and stormy looking. Life in the PNW. I'll take it though.

I've been contemplating doing a series again called 31 Days. I participated in this for 3 years and really enjoyed it:

It was put on by a group of bloggers and there were hundreds of participants. I don't know if my posts ever were read by anyone because there were so many, but the goal was to encourage you to "write" for 31 days straight. On any topic. I also did a series on "The Power of..." and that was fun, and not for any group. BUT I was thinking it would be fun to challenge myself with a series of some sort for my own blogging and journaling purposes.

Well, friends, I think that's all I've got for this week, it's been a week of trying to get things done, and feeling a bit "off" physically and mentally/emotionally....chalk it up to hormones after 50...lol (I'm 52)...and since we'll be in Texas next week, unless I get a down time, I may not share next week. Looking forward to visiting some of you.

For fun I thought I'd share some favorite memes, signs and a couple photos from this last week.

In the window of the restaurant we went to last week...I just chuckled at some of the wording.

I love hiking and I loved this quote

Drove down to the river last week to see the eagles again...I love watching them.

This one cracked me up because I DO NOT like spiders

I love snow and someone posted this when we had our massive dumping of snow last month.

On our walk along the Columbia river last week before dinner.

Have you heard of Epicure? If you're from Canada you probably have...it's new to the US. It's a great company that a friend of mine introduced me to...she became a consultant recently and I had a virtual party. One of the meals I tried was sweet garlic chicken. It turned out really good.

YES....love this quote. I love quotes and memes. I love saving them to come back to a remind me of something I need to hear.

  2. I loved that last quote and you must be so excited about finally meeting your granddaughter. I love it when we see our kids and grandgirls - there's just something about family that fills my heart with contentment - especially when I see them flourishing. Well done on finding so much to write about each week - I've gone from a monthly round-up post to a 3 monthly one this year - there's less new stuff happening and it saves me trying to fill a post - I must need to get out more!

    1. I agree. Leanne..there is something about family. I feel like my average weeks aren't that exciting because it's pretty much the same thing. I want to move to sharing more what's been on my heart, but right now, trying to be consistent. I might try and pull up some old posts and refresh them if I feel they're still relevant. Thanks for visiting. I need to get out and visit everyone.

    1. Thank you....One year I literally threw my back out for a week trying to avoid a spider I thought was attached to my foot.

  5. I loved some of those memes and am interested to hear what you come up with in a 31 days challenge. I also hear you re more steps - it's been raining heavily (and I mean heavily) here & my step count (usually about 12-15,000 steps a day during the working week) is hovering at couch potato status. Have a great week.

    1. haha...I like that "couch potato status". That awesome to get those steps on average. I can barely get 10,000 so I really want to challenge myself to be intentional. When we visited NYC a few years ago we averaged 25,000 a day....I lost 5 pounds...lol...and ate lots of amazing food. You have a great week too.

  6. Hi Kirstin, What a friendly post. Your dinner looks lovely. I love the quote about snow. I also love "When Calls the Heart." I binged watched it until there was no more. I will say no more because I don't know how far you are along in the series. Good luck with your ten minutes a day. Reading this post, I'm sure you write way more than ten minutes a day. I love journaling, too buy mine is more for keeping track of things. LOL Have a great week. :)

    1. I am all caught up in the series. I usually record it (shows on sundays) and then watch the new episodes on my day off on wednesday.
