Taking in Life Around Me......#SundayStills.....Best Black and White Photos
This weeks theme for #SundayStills is "black and white". I'm so glad I found this challenge by Terrie from Second Wind Leisure. Find her current post here. I've also been loving visiting the blogs of the other participants and being inspired by their interpretations of the theme.
Are you a person who loves to view life in color or black and white? Or does it really depend? Have you ever seen a photo in both color and black and white and been drawn to one or the other, or maybe a bland picture in color, was stunning in black and white.
Some of my favorite photos to view are old photos that were only done in black and white. I have several from my family and I love them. Yet, I have never ventured into editing photos much in black and white.
I wanted to take more time on this one, but the week got away from me and I'm tired, so I pulled up a few I thought would be fun and played around with them til I got something that I was happy with. I hope you enjoy them. I wanted to use Lightroom, but my program wouldn't open, so I just edited in the Photos app on my Mac. I first changed it all to BW and then adjusted the various sliders.

You have a beautiful and stunning collection of B&W images, Kirstin! Your photo app did wonders! Such great contrasts and textures. I really love the building on Kelley's Island, you captured texture and light perfectly--like the building glows!
ReplyDeleteThere were so many cool buildings there. The history of the island is very interesting and while we tend to think of the west coast as being the only place where wineries and vineyards are found, this island was actually very successful at both many years ago...my aunt and uncle actually live on the island and have a small vineyard, tasting room and process and bottle their own wine.
DeleteHi, Kristin - Your black and white photos here are truly stunning. I especially love the one of your husband and grandchild
ReplyDeleteBTW - Your daughter, and your grandma are both absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you! It's fun playing around with photos isn't it? I don't have Wordpress so I'm not sure I can do the slider option for photos like Terri and others did, but I think it's cool to see a before and after.
DeleteI LOVE the textures you've got into these images. NYC, to me, feels like it should always be in B&W...
ReplyDeleteIt's fun playing around isn't it?
DeleteYour photos have great subjects and textures.! I especially love the cowboy and Venice images. I really need to learn how to use my Photoshop Elements software.😄
ReplyDeleteI loved elements..one thing for me, was I like to download actions and presets, even in lightroom I have quite a few then I can use those, but then adjust to my liking.
DeleteGreat choice of photos! I especially like the one of your daughter and the NYC skyline.
ReplyDeleteThank you Janis! Thank you for visiting
DeleteKirsten, these are all lovely. My favorite might be the cowboy, though I can't see the cell phone. Your daughter is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I chose a photo after he put it in his pocket. Thank you on my daughter. My girls are beautiful inside and out. THey're the best
DeleteVisiting from #Sunday Stills. I love your B/W images. They are all well done, but the old building and the boardwalk photo stand out as special.
