Taking in Life Around Me....Sunday Stills....My Favorite Landscape

This weeks theme for #SundayStills is "Favorite Landscape".  I'm so glad I found this challenge by Terrie from Second Wind Leisure. Find her current post here.

This is hard because I love nature and the outdoors and honestly, my favorite landscape can be anything depending on my mood, where I'm at, how I'm seeing it. With that said. I will always love waterfalls, mountains and water. I've had the privilege to live in the Pacific NW and be near and surrounded by all of them. But then the beauty of flower gardens, green fields, fall pumpkin patches...there's just always something to see if we are looking.

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." Marcel Proust

That is a favorite quote of mine because it's truly all in how we see it, there is always something to find beauty in no matter where we are.

Yesterday I ventured with my youngest daughter up to my hometown, 2 1/2 hours away. We made a stop at Snoqualmie Falls...it is said to be higher than Niagra falls by 100 feet. These falls are beautiful anytime of year. I was trying to find a photo of them at capacity which is amazing to see, although you will get wet from the mist. I couldn't find one though. When at capacity from mountain run off the water will stretch all the way across that narrow area and be so massive it's breathtaking.

Anyways...enjoy my favorite landscape photos...of course, like everyone else, I probably could've added more.

We live about 30 minutes north of the Oregon border. This bridge crosses the Columbian river into Portland...my hubby and I walked a path on Thanksgiving Day before lunch.
Another popular hiking spot in our area. Moulton Falls area. I love where we live. Sometimes we get so busy or dream of all the places we want to go, that we forget the beauty in our own backyards.
We love Hood River, Oregon. This is from one of the farms we like to visit. Mt. Hood in the background, and beautiful flower gardens. I love these old chairs.
Mt. St. Helens area. So beautiful. Mt. St. Helens is about a 45 minute drive from our home. This is one of the lakes near it (I can't remember the name), and I love the boardwalk. So peaceful.
The Pacific Ocean and Oregon Coast are gorgeous! These rocks are aptly named "twin rocks"
Fall at the Pumpkin Patch is always pretty.

This is the hill going up to our road. It is so pretty during all the seasons (well, winter only if there's snow). I have a habit of stopping regularly to get pictures as it changes.
Moulton Falls! My hubby and I.
I LOVE buildings, cityscapes...these colors on the houses in Burano, Italy were gorgeous. We visited in 2019 and it was amazing. I wrote several posts about our Europe trip if you're interested.
The farm at Sunset. Stunning.
And of course city lights. New York City from the banks of Hoboken, NJ. This was a trip for my youngest daughter when she graduated high school.

I can't wait to see what everyone else posted. It always inspires me.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. Kirstin, jaw-dropping landscapes! I appreciate the tour of the PNW now that I am a fulltime resident. Every image is stunning and make me appreciate what scenes are in our own backyards, (although a trip to Germany and Ireland are on our to-do list some day!). The picture of Mt St Helens in beyond stunning with the pathway moving toward it, beckoning anyone to come and see! Thank you for your participation and also for visiting other's blogs!

    1. Thank you. I LOVE landscapes. Yes, so many areas to explore. We rarely get to the east side of washington. But I'm sure there are many areas over there to explore.

My hubby went to ireland in college and loved it.

I enjoy visiting everyone and showing some love..and it can be inspiring as well.

  4. Hi Kirstin, I really enjoyed your entries for #SundayStills today. My husband and I love the PNW and can't wait to be able to visit there again. My favorite photo is of the boardwalk with Mt. St. Helens in the background. Every thing about that photo draws me in - color, composition, elements of water and texture, clouds. Just perfect!

  5. Such a beautiful tour via pics and words from your life experiences. Wow. I love seeing snow capped mountains in the background. Something we have very few of in Australia.
