SRC: Fancy Grilled Cheese Sammy
It's that time again.....that time when we, as SRC bloggers spend a few minutes hours perusing our assigned blogs looking for that perfect recipe, trying hard to decide when it is not an easy task. Well, that's what happened again this month. I received my blog assignment, headed over as soon as I could, took time to read about the writer and then searched hundreds of recipes. I LOVE being a part of the Secret Recipe Club.
This month I was assigned the blog Frugal Antics of a Harried Homemaker. The author, Kristen has a great blog. I enjoyed her category "Saturday Stories", where she shares about her family past and present...and the recipes....oh my goodness...there were so many choices. I have many bookmarked and I think I will still try them. But the one I settled on today was her recipe for Fancy Grilled Cheese Sandwiches..I LOVE Grilled Cheese and it just sounded really good to me today. Like I said I'm sure I'll make a few more of her recipes, maybe even adding them to this post.
So here it is in it's simplicity....I only made one sandwich but I'll share her full recipe which makes quite a few more.
Ingredients:
Your favorite bread of choice (I used a thick Italian bread)
2 c. shredded cheddar
2 c. shredded mozzarella
5 oz. softened cream cheese
1 1/4 c. mayo
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
Instructions:
Spread butter on two sides of bread. Combine cheeses, mayo and garlic powder.
Place one piece of bread butter side down in pan..spread cheese mixture in the middle and top with remaining buttered bread. I took it up a notch. After spreading half the filling on the bread, I added some spinach leaves, then I added remaining filling and grilled away.
WOW! Talk about a yummy flavor. I wasn't sure what the mayo would do to it, but it was so good. It was rich, creamy, gooey, with amazing bursts of flavor! You totally need to make this. Please go visit Kristen and show her some love and don't forget to check out all the other recipes below.
