Pure Insanity

I think I may have lost my mind....yep....I think I did! I will be the first to admit that I really don't like the idea of working out and exercising. While I know it's good for me and I need to do it, I just really hate to, though the funny thing is, when I get going and I'm done, I don't mind so much. I would much rather be doing something else. 

Hubby and I recently joined Snap Fitness. We've been going for the past month at least 5 days a week in the mornings. I actually don't mind going there...they have plenty of machines and weights.


But what causes me to say that I think I've gone insane is that on Monday we started an exercise program with about 10 other friends. We meet at our church every day and workout with the popular  Insanity workout DVD put out by Beach Body! If you've heard of P90X, Insanity is similar but harder...My hubby is the one spear heading this endeavor (it's his second time through), along with my oldest daughter. I shied away from it the first time. I was afraid of hurting myself. This time I decided to give it a try. 

Despite battling bursitis in one hip and something going on in one of my arm muscles, I'm going for it. I'm modifying certain moves that bother those sore muscles and going at my own pace...pushing myself, but knowing my limits. It's hard, really hard, but I feel good afterwards. I've been using ice and heat on my hip 2-3 times a day and taking epsom salt baths at night. One of our friends doing it with us who is also a massage therapist made us some yummy smelling epsom salts. I'm going to buy my own with some oils and make our own bath soaks. I've made it through Day 4 and feel pretty good. Sore, yes, but the aches in my hip are no worse.

  2. You can do it, Kirstin! Modifying the moves is a god way to not overdo it and hurt yourself more. Just keep at it, don't give up!
