Works For Me Wednesday: Copying from video to DVD

There's a new host at Works for Me Wednesday. Kristen from We are THAT Family has taken over for Rocks in My Dryer. Head on over and check it out. I love her blog. I love both of their blogs.
**NOTE: Once again, if my link to those two blogs doesn't work, I appologize, I haven't figured out the problem yet. They are in my sidebar though.
So if you're like me, you have a box, or two, or three that looks like this.....
And if you're like me, there are video tapes of every size and shape. Some full, some with only a few minutes recorded on them. AND, if you're like me...you no longer have the video cameras that took those videos. Sigh...that has been my dilemma. We borrowed cameras for the first several years, each having different size tapes. Then we bought our own which we still have, but it has officially "died". Maybe I'll blog another time about the new one we purchased.
The problem is whoever watches those tapes? No one!! Why? Because we no longer have the cameras, it's a hassle to hook up the cameras to the TV, rewind the tapes and watch. It costs way too much to have someone else do it. I figured I'd spend around $300 roughly to have my tapes put on DVD. No thanks. We found a solution. But before I get to that, check this baby out.
This contraption lets us rewind our small videos without using the video camera and wearing down the battery.
This is what my hubby came home with recently. It is a Sony Multi-function DVD Recorder. He purchased it at Costco (I think) and it will record anything onto DVD. You can hook up any camera too it (including digitals) and transfer right to a DVD. I used it a few weeks ago with our new camera and it worked great. My goal is to begin putting our other videos onto DVD's. When I do, (hopefully start this week), I'll post on it more in detail.
It has a screen that will actually project your video or pictures. You are able to stop and start and if you don't "finalize" your DVD, you can keep adding to it. Very handy! It has 3 or 4 slots for memory cards! And all of these ports for usb or other cables. Oh, I think this is an answer to my pet peeve! I can't wait to get busy.

  2. OOOh, that looks great! I don't have any camera tapes - just regular VHS tapes, but quite a few. I'd hate to lose those and I never think of it until I want to watch something - and we don't have a VCR anymore.

    Thanks!!
Hope you have a great day!

  3. I recently bought the same thing! I just finished coping over all our old video tapes (about 20 or so)onto DVDs. It was very, very easy to do. Thanks for sharing!
