Kitchen Tip Tuesday: Veggies and Kids

Yesterday we purchased a Vita-Mix blender. Costco sells them every 6 months and our rebate check this year from our Amex card was 425.00, so we used that to purchase the blender and also a dry container. We are sooo excited. I'll post more on it later today or tonight. But, as we were at Costco watching the demo and sampling all the yummy things he made my youngest daughter made this comment. "Mom, I really liked that soup he made even though I don't like peppers." "And I really liked that smoothie even though he put celery and cabbage in it". She was so excited to like those things and not taste the veggies. The only thing she didn't like was the V-8 drink, but then, not many do. So I am excited to begin making drinks that she will drink and enjoy and not fight the fact that there are veggies in it. She is a picky veggie eater, though she loves salad, and corn, but not much else. She'll eat it, but isn't a fan of it. So look for creative ways to sneak those veggies in. And I'm thinking this vita-mix will be a worthwhile investment. The guy made white chocolate ice cream, a sorbet, a tortilla soup, a smoothie and a fruit/veggie juice. Amazingly quick and amazingly yummy and amazingly healthy. With the dry container we will be able to grind our own flour if we want to, which will be exciting. Ohhhhh, can't wait to play with it. With Joy UNquenchable,

  1. We have a vita mix and I just love it. It is easy to combine things with stuff the kids won't normally eat and it taste's delicious.
Oh, and the ice cream is the best!

  2. Kirstin,
Thanks for posting on my blog!

    Thanks for the tips!

I often use wheat in my friendship breads and one and a half cup of oats, just to feel better, lol. But I hadn't considered all the sugar! Thanks again-- and thanks for the info on the Vita-mix--they sound super neat-o!

  3. That sounds like so much fun. Can you post a picture of what it looks like?
