The Beauty of Organization

Okay, I know I'm not the most organized person there is, but I do like to be organized. I thought I'd share a few tools that I use regularly to help keep me organized. #1 My Dayplanner....love this! I'm able to keep track of everything I need to do that day, who I need to call, where I need to be etc....I have sections for books I want to read, lined pages for note taking, address list. I try to have a monthly calendar in it as well as my daily pages so I'm able to look ahead! I began making my own filler pages so that I had at my fingertips everything I wanted. I also use my computer outlook calendar. #2 Learn to use Excel....I took the time to learn excel and now I use it to make my grocery list, financial record sheets, school schedule, etc.. #3 Learn to budget well and adjust when necessary.... We began to budget right away in our marriage. And we have never regretted it. We use a system that we learned from Larry Burkett. We have a budget sheet and envelopes for each category. Every payday money goes into those envelopes. When the bill is due we put the money into our checking and pay the bill. We save year round for Christmas or other things. We've yet to have a clothing budget but everything else is covered. I shop around for deals, and don't spend grocery money on high dollar items (steak, processed foods, etc..). #4 Don't hoard...Regularly go through the items in your home and get rid of what you don't use. #5 Find a great consignment store....I began taking my girls clothes to an amazing local consignment store. When money was tight, this was a blessing to go in and use my credit to purchase new, quality clothing. #6 Ebay and Garage sales...we don't have a homeschool budget either, so every spring I have a garage sale, and around July/August I post my old school books on ebay as well as bid on the current year books. This money pays for school and also helps me cut down on clutter.
