Book Review: Lonestar Homecoming

I love good Christian fiction and when I saw the book Lonestar Homecoming by Colleen Coble available to review on Booksneeze I jumped at the chance to read it. I was not disappointed. I have actually gone to my library website and ordered more of her books.

Book Description

Gracie has spent her life running from her problems. Now they've found her!
With nothing but five dollars, a train ticket, and the wedding dress she’s wearing, Gracie Lister escapes with her daughter to the West Texas country where her family fell apart years ago. There, Lieutenant Michael Wayne—devoted single father, dedicated soldier—gives Gracie the hiding place she needs, and a job caring for his two children. Michael and Gracie aren’t looking for love, but it finds them right away.
When Gracie’s ex-fiancé catches up to her, her impulse is to flee the danger--and the father she lacks the courage to confront.
Together Gracie and Michael must find the strength they need in each other to protect their newly forged family and the life they desire together.
The book had me engaged from the beginning. The story takes place in Modern Day Texas, though even at the beginning I thought it was an old Western. It was fun to realize I was wrong, (I mean they didn't have tires squealing in the old days right?) It is an easy read, one that can be read in a day easily. It is filled with romance, suspense and faith found.

While fiction, there is reality woven in as Gracie struggles with guilt of past choices and the feeling that God wants nothing to do with her. The realization comes eventually that He never left her. There is reconciliation with a father she thought hated her. She faces her fears and overcomes them. She finds true love and peace.

The author did a great job weaving the story together in a way that had you uncovering new clues every step of the way.

I received this book free of charge from Thomas Nelson Publishing as part of Booksneeze in exchange for a review of the product.
