Recipe: Best Butter Cookie Cut-Out
I have been trying to get this recipe posted since Monday and it just hasn't happened. Life has happened and pushed blogging on the back burner. Every time I'd sit down to post, something or someone would need my attention. What I like about these cookies is that they are not overly sweet. This is a good thing when you are also frosting them. I also like that it is a recipe that was passed down from my mom. I still have the recipe in her writing on a cute Christmas-y recipe card, along with many others. My mom passed away 6 years ago and I love seeing her writing on my favorite recipes.
1 c. butter softened
1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
Cream butter in a mixing bowl. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix till light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, stir until combined. Sift together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Gradually add to cream mixture and combine into a ball. Roll out on lightly floured board 1/8" thick. Cut into shapes. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees. Cool and decorate. I have no doubt this will be added to your recipe file. Enjoy! With Joy UNquenchable,
