We definitely plan to continue on with it.

It is VERY rare that he needs my help. There is a lecture they watch on the computer. As the teacher is explaining the lesson, you see the problem being worked out on what looks like a notepad on the computer.

After the lecture, they have 5 practice problems and then about 20 problems to do after that. For each problem, there is a solution. So if your child gets one wrong, they can try again on their own. If they get it wrong again, they can watch the solution to that problem. It will walk them step by step through it.

I've been very impressed with it and Alek has enjoyed it as well. It's a bit pricey up front but if someone else in your family will be using it later, it does make it a bit more reasonable.

I don't know about language arts though. Alek is using Easy Grammar but I think it only goes up to JR. High level & is not done on DVD or computer. Have you looked at Switched on Schoolhouse? There's got to be something out there for her that she can do on her own, even if it's not a DVD or computer based program. Have you ever received the Rainbow Resource catalog? If not, go to www.rainbowresource.com and request a catalog. They carry just about everything homeschool related out there and give pretty good reviews of each of their products.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I enjoy your visits! :)

Hope that helps!

Love, AlyssaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1853162105956273226.post-76501572697910282432008-04-12T23:16:00.000-07:002008-04-12T23:16:00.000-07:00I'm mostly just stopping by to say g'day as I have...I'm mostly just stopping by to say g'day as I have no idea about homeschool curriculae.

I hope you find the answers you need.

E is working on something for the girls but she's been a bit busy.

KateAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1853162105956273226.post-73183379145132234142008-04-11T22:14:00.000-07:002008-04-11T22:14:00.000-07:00My daughter uses the Abeka Language Arts workbook ...My daughter uses the Abeka Language Arts workbook instead of the DVD but then again I teach Language Arts and I tutor in Reading and Language Arts. I love that they get the teacher drills, information and step by step introduction to new material! My daughter took algebra II this year as well as Chemisty and other 10th and 11th grade classes and she loves it! My son who is in the 5th grade did great as well! His awareness of formulas and processes improved greatly with this! Hope that helps!

OH, by the way, you have been tagged on my blog. :)

KristenKristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17147635947305555486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1853162105956273226.post-71568828461343125822008-04-10T20:29:00.000-07:002008-04-10T20:29:00.000-07:00when my daughter started 7th grade, we used the ab...when my daughter started 7th grade, we used the abeka dvd program. it was pricey, but i didn't trust myself to teach it to her. she's in public high school now. do you have home school co~ops? i know we have a home school resource center that offers classes. there is a fee involved.

i hope you find the perfect solution. also, ck out rainbow resource guide.

blessings,
missyMissyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04962801180708266868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1853162105956273226.post-27402607872540650332008-04-10T16:48:00.000-07:002008-04-10T16:48:00.000-07:00I was going to suggest Teaching Textbooks, but you...I was going to suggest Teaching Textbooks, but you mentioned that. My cousin mentioned it to me and I actually haven't even checked it out yet but am planning to. I don't like the math part and CJ will be 8th grade next year. Thankfully, I don't have any trouble teaching English, so I really don't have any great suggestions there. I use BJU and really like it. What I really struggle with writing - as in creative writing. I wish I could find something wonderful for that!Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00566436418724659979noreply@blogger.com
