Back in town

Hubby and I just returned home from a 4 day trip to Redding, California. We were there for a Leadership Conference that was excellent. We've been to Bethel Church four times and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time we've gone. However, we arrived to rain and it rained everyday we were there except today! I was so disappointed. I mean, I just left the rain and I so badly wanted sunshine. Yesterday was a bit better but still a bit wet. But they need it there so I suppose it was fine. Today we woke up to blue skies and warmer weather. We checked out of the hotel and headed to Starbucks where we enjoyed coffee, scones, sunshine and the company of new Swiss friends we had met while we were there. The fun thing about conferences is all the people you meet. We then headed over to the mall and then to the Sundial Bridge. Check out this post for some pictures. We also saw a couple there whom my hubby and I had known in Bible College. We went to college with their son and daughter. That was cool! The hotel was nice but the hallway of the floor we were on smelled a bit stale, maybe like it had been a smoking floor at one time. The rooms didn't smell but the hallway did. Whoever was above us, was up every morning at 4:30 walking around and opening drawers, then again around 5:15. Needless to say I did not get the most amazing sleep. The bed was comfy though. I had the wonderful privilege of meeting a fellow blogging friend while we were there. Sarah, over at C & C Baby Factory had commented on a blog post I did awhile back on a parenting series by Danny Silk who is from Bethel. Through that we realized that our churches were both going in similar directions and we began visiting each others blogs and eventually Facebook. A few months ago she e-mailed me to see if we were attending the Leadership Conference that Bethel was putting on in May. At that time I wasn't sure if we were or not but told her I'd let her know. Well, turns out, that same week we were asked to go. Sarah and I made arrangements to contact each other when we were there so we could meet in person. I was excited and I admit a bit nervous. The first night we were there I thought I saw her from a distance (we were in a conference of over 800 people), but I had seen pictures of her and her husband Brett and he's a tall guy so not hard to miss. I was so tired from the flight (though it was only an hour and 15 minutes) and being at an evening meeting that I decided I'd just meet her the next day. Let me tell you, she is one of the nicest people I've met. She is sweet and bubbly and I so enjoyed meeting and talking with her. She is down to earth and very easy to talk to. Her hubby is super nice as well. We visited briefly a few times in the church lobby and it was such a blessing to meet another amazing woman, mom and wife. God is going to do incredible things through their lives. It is nice to be home now. I came home to my wonderful girls who had tulips for me and a clean house. The gal who stayed with them had meatless chili and guacamole made for us. How sweet was that? Now it's a week of catching up, planting my garden, soccer games and getting ready for my grandma to come visit next Thursday and I am so excited for that. With Joy UNquenchable,

  1. You are so sweet, Kirstin!! I loved meeting you, too. I was the same way....meeting sounded really fun til I was actually there, then I got really nervous....like "what if we do not click at all?"

Fortunately, that was not the case. And talking was so natural and fun. I enjoyed connecting! So great to have a friend going after the same things. You are amazing, and i look forward to our friendship growing!
