Kitchen Tip Tuesday: quick lunch and reheating garlic breadIt's

It's time for another Kitchen Tip Tuesday with Tammy over at Tammy's recipes. Click on over for more great tips and yummy recipes.
I always enjoy the many tips that are posted there. Not to mention amazing recipes.
I'm actually sharing two tips with you today. The other day my youngest was hungry for lunch, I had been working outside for awhile and there really wasn't much in the house that day since I hadn't gone grocery shopping and as much as I'd like to always have a fully stocked kitchen, by the end of two weeks, it's pretty bare. So I had to come up with something that would satisfy. I opted for some garlic, pan-cooked (I hate the word fried...well that's not entirely true...I love "fried", but it's not good for me...but really, they're fried) noodles. I keep egg noodles on hand for various meals, and had some leftover. Cook up a fair amount and drain. Melt about 1 Tbs. butter and put about 1 Tbs. olive oil in a skillet (you could probably just spray it, but the butter makes it taste better). Add the noodles and stir around to coat. Season with parsley, garlic powder, a dash of salt and some pepper. Cook until desired "done-ness". We like our slightly crispy but not hard. Serve as is, or do what I do and add a bit of sour cream. Quick and yummy.  It also makes a great side dish!
The second tip is regarding what to do with leftover garlic bread. There's nothing like fresh out of the oven garlic bread, but sometimes there are leftovers and by golly you just can't let that go to waste...but that stuff just gets "tough" and isn't as good the next day, or even a few hours later. I've never really known what to do with it, but the other day I tried this trick and it worked.  Re-heat it in a skillet on top of your stove..no need to spray the pan, just put the bread right on. Flip it if you need too. I prefer my bread a bit crunchy on the edges so this works great.

  1. Great tips. We rarely have leftover garlic bread, it is such a favorite around here. But I will try this the next time we do! My kids would love the noodle dish, and I always have egg noodles in the house.

  2. What great tips Kirstin....sounds like a simple meal that makes great use of leftovers with only a few ingredients. I am trying to break out of the same old recipes....even I'm getting sick of them.

  3. You can also sprinkle some water on top of the leftover garlic bread. Cover loosely with foil and place in warm oven.
