Works for Me Wednesday: Ebay

Works For Me Wednesday is back. Check out all the great ideas at Rocks in My Dryer. I'm a homeschool mom and always have quite a few books at the end of the year. And as any homeschool mom knows, no one pays for your school books but you. In fact we probably pay for everyone elses school books (those in public school) as well as our own kids (which reminds me I have to turn in my intent to homeschool with the school district...do they even care anyways?). Homeschool books are not cheap, and I know I don't spend near what other parents spend. I discovered several years ago that selling last years books on ebay is the way to go. Sure I could take them to a local homeschool store but I wouldn't get much for them. I begin selling them towards the middle of August sometimes a bit later and they seem to do well. I check to see what others are going for, include the cost of my shipping materials and decide what to list for off of that. Last year I started using their Turbo Lister which is amazing and makes the job so much faster. Yesterday Nan and I hauled everything into the Post Office to mail (which reminds me I need to e-mail everyone and tell them their stuff is on the way). Ebay is also one way I've purchased homeschool products. I can get great deals and I admit it's lots of fun trying to outbid someone (one year I actually outbid my sister-in-law and didn't know it until we were talking about what we had bid on). I'm always trying to find a way to keep the cost of school down. So between ebay and our local homeschool store (www.exodusprovisions.com) I only have to buy a few new books. This year though with trying to get our house done I just didn't have the time to work the internet so I just bought everything new and via online...that was weird for me. With Joy UNquenchable,

  2. Love Ebay...when I went back to school a couple of years ago, that is how I found many of my books. Audley uses it now to sell his textbooks. I actually just sold our piano on Ebay. I've also found beautiful bows and personalized items for the girls to use as gifts.

    Have a great weekend!
