I Heart Faces My Story in Photos Dessert Recipe Edition

I'm again re-posting this recipe, but this time not because I left out ingredients, but as an entry in I HEART Faces Photo Challenge. This week they want us to share our favorite dessert recipe using photo's. It is no secret that this is my favorite dessert! I have decided that it would be even good with drizzled chocolate over the top!

I could not find the original photos on my computer (to "edit" them) so well, ya get what ya get!

I love peanut butter! I mean I really love it. I can be found dipping a spoon in the P.B. jar just for a taste. I love Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, peanut butter pie, peanut butter fudge and......peanut butter pound cake!

I only make this when we are having company or it is leaving my house. Why? Because I have no self-control what-so-ever and will eat it....ALL!

So now I'll share with you the recipe and you can be tortured with temptation after you make it! Not to mention that it is not at all healthy for you and is loaded with LOTS of ingredients. I posted pictures below!

Peanut Butter (put on a few pounds) Pound Cake
(Printable Recipe)
1 c. butter, softened
2 c. sugar
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. peanut butter
5 eggs
(gettin scared yet?)
1 Tbs. vanilla
3 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. whipping cream or whole milk
Frosting:
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. peanut butter
2 c. powdered sugar
3 tbs. milk
(might as well use the whipping cream with all the other stuff that's in this)

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add brown sugar and peanut butter; beat thoroughly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition; stir in vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternating with whipping cream. Place in a greased and floured tube pan. *Note: A bundt pan is not big enough. If you use a bundt pan, you can use extra batter and make cupcakes, or place in another smaller pan. Bake at 325 for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Let cool 10 minutes and remove from pan. Combine all frosting ingredients and frost cake. Consume!!

My girls are totally into arranging the ingredients and taking pictures for my blog! How funny is that!

So, I did a really bad job following directions, but it turned out anyways. You weren't supposed to add the brown sugar at the beginning!

That's a lotta eggs!

And a lotta Vanilla!

Oh, this is looking good...make sure you taste it a few times (C:

Flour

Oh, there's that cream!!

The finished batter product. It's sooo good!

Wha lah! A yummy yummy in my tummy pound cake. I had one piece. It went out the door and never came back!
Actually I had made this along with another cake for a bake sale and can you believe this was still there....so it came home with us, actually it came home and went right back out the door with us to a meeting. There was no way that was staying in my house. My oldest (and I kick myself for not taking pictures) made a 3 layer chocolate cake with whipped topping and strawberries on each layer. Then she surrounded it with extra berries. On top we sprinkled "homemade" powdered sugar that we made in our Vitamix and added whole strawberries on the top. Oh did it look good.

I'm also linking this to Sweet Treat Saturday over at Simply..This.That. And the Other.
I have loved Lisa's blog. You will too.

  1. That looks fabulous! I love peanut butter too! I just made a cake to take to my inlaws over the weekend that is chocolate with a pb filling and reeses on top. YUM!

OK, but I have one question - your recipe says 1 cup of butter. But in your pic that looks like way more. Those look like 1 lb. blocks - are my eyes just deceiving me? So I'm wondering if it is really only 1 cup in the recipe?

I'm so going to try this soon!

  7. My husband, who does not bake, made this the other day. I was not home. Even though the batter was greater than the volume of the bundt pan, and it spilled all over the oven o-: the cake was out of this world!! We are telling everyone about your recipe, sharing your link. Merry CHRISTmas to you all, JanBrazeau from Yakima, WA
